Treatment options often include the following:

Medication-Assisted Treatment: This treatment combines pharmacological intervention with counseling and behavioral therapies. Medication-Assisted Treatment is a comprehensive approach for the treatment of substance misuse disorders.

Counseling: Professionally conducted talk therapy is directed at modifying behavior. Counseling provides you with the coping skills and tools that can be used throughout your life.

Self-Help: Self-help organizations often provide group and individualized support. These groups include Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Smart Recovery and online forums.

In-patient Treatment Programs: These programs are highly structured and supervised programs that isolate patients for treatment. Oftentimes, in-patient programs employ both individual and group therapy.

Out-patient Treatment Programs: These programs are generally conducted by an addiction specialist or primary care physician, Out-patient Treatment Programs allow people to remain with family while receiving treatment
